Eunice police continue seat belt enforcement through Sunday
The Eunice Police Department, which is partnering with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission to reduce the number of fatal and injury crashes in Louisiana, launched “Click It Or Ticket” May 18.
The campaign continues through Sunday.
The Eunice Police Department is agreeing to work 250 hours of overtime and will receive $5,000 from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for working the hours and to cover the over time wages paid to the officers participating in the over time hours worked during this phase. Focus will be on seat belt usage in all vehicles.
During Phase One, “Buckle Up In Your Truck,” Eunice police worked 124 of the 125 hours issuing 74 seatbelt violations, three child restraint violations and 23 other violations.
The third phase of the campaign, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Impaired Driving, is scheduled Aug. 15 and runs through Sept. 7. The Eunice Police Department is agreeing to work 250 hours of overtime and will be receiving $5,000 from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for working the hours and to cover the over time wages to the officers participating in the over time hours worked during this phase.
