Pitchers for the Eunice American Legion team this summer are Clarence Darbonne, Glenn Bordelon and Frank Bernard. Freddie Byars is catcher.
The Rev. Paschal Austin Leger of Eunice was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Maurice Schexnayder. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Zannie Leger.
The Zoning and Planning Commission approved MDRs. R.S. Parrot, Sr.’s request to re-zone her property from private residential to commercial to allow a nursing home on it. The permit is not transferrable.
The City Council overrode the Zoning Board and allowed re-zoning from residential B to general business the North 8th street site of T&H Well Service, a move that will allow it to build a new shop and improve existing facilities.
Drs. Ruth Brady Fink and Roland Fink have moved their offices to 331 South 2nd (the old Burleigh McManus House) across from City Hall.
Mike Elaine Mangham has been chosen editor for the Eunice High “Bobcatter” newspaper for the 1962-63 school year.
Edward Warner Veillon received his lieutenant’s bars from his mother, Mrs. E.A. Veillon, in ceremonies at LSU. He received his business administration degree and will begin a two-year Army tour in August.
Recreation Commissioner Bubba Picou and Wilson Moosa are advocated development of a comprehensive recreational center on the “fairgrounds” property at 12th & Maple. They envision a football field, baseball field, tennis courts and a swimming pool.
A second Little League, called the National League, has been formed in order to give more boys the chance to play.
The City Council adopted an ordinance based on last month’s passage of a one-cent sales tax referendum. Collection will begin Aug. 1.
Laudice Verret is retiring after 23 years with the Post Office in Eunice. Prior to that post, he was in World War I and after the war was an extra in about 450 movies form 1925 to 1933.
