Germaine Simpson is announcing her candidacy for State Representative in District 41.
She cites 11 years experience as an educator and being an advocate for the elderly and disabled for the past six years in the announcement.
“While serving as councilwoman, I joined a Metropolitan Planning Organization in 2013. While serving as councilwoman in 2013, I began attending the Library Coalition organization meetings in support of a parish-wide library system. In November of 2014, I was appointed to the Governor’s Statewide Independent Living Council, advocating for the elderly and the disabled assuring equal opportunity, independence and equality of life for everyone.
“While serving as councilwoman of Ward 2 of the City of Eunice I utilized my funding for roads to the best of my ability. I have focused on clean and safe communities for young children and the elderly.”
Simpson stated she was born and raised in the City of Eunice.
Simpson stated she is a a graduate of Eunice High School. She attended LSU Eunice and is a graduate of McNeese State University with a bachelors of science in criminal justice.
She is a member of St. Mathilda Catholic Church, and a member of St. Mathilda Ladies Altar Society.
“I have one daughter Jillian Simpson; one son (deceased) Gerund Simpson.
The election is scheduled Oct. 24.
