ELECTION 2015/Announcement
Gregory Fruge, a lifelong resident of Eunice, is announcing that he is a candidate for District 41 state representative. The district consist of northern Acadia Parish, the panhandle of St Landry Parish and the southwest part of Evangeline Parish.
Fruge served as state representative from 1996 until 2004. While serving in the Legislature he was elected The Buggy Festival King and the Swine Festival King.
He began his working career in the construction industry as a welder and heavy equipment operator, after 10 years he returned to college at Louisiana State University Eunice and received a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology from the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
He started a welding business making and testing tank trailers and crawfish harvesting equipment. Fruge went on to work as an auditor and inspector for the State Fire Marshal Office. He is presently semi-retired and working in the real estate industry.
Fruge is a member of the Eunice Chamber of Commerce and Delta Waterfowl. He served as the past president of the Eunice Jaycees, the Eunice Lions Club and vice chairman of the American Welding Society, Lafayette Chapter. He is a 20-year life member of the Eunice Volunteer Fire Department and was a first responder during his tenure with the Fire Marshal Office.
Fruge has been married to Shella for 46 years, and has two grown children and three grandchildren.
The primary election is scheduled Oct. 24.
