Lady Cats look to improve on young season
IOWA – The Eunice Lady Bobcats hope to even their season record Wednesday night as they open play in the the Iowa High tournament against Hatthaway.
The Lady Cats will take on host Iowa on Friday night.
After opening the seasons with losses to Mamou (69-38) and Basile (64-53), head Coach Wayne Fontenot’s Lady Bobcats won two of their next three games to improve to 2-3 on the season.
The Lady Bobcats earned their initial victory of the season with a 67-22 win over David Thibodeaux Academy.
The Lady Cats used a balanced scoring attack to claim the win as Dashay Vigers and Stacy White scored 22 and 20 points, respectively to lead the offensive attack.
The Lady Cats jumped ahead early, taking a 20-6 lead after one quarter of action.
After Thibodeaux closed the gap to 31-16 at the half, the Lady Cats outscored Thibodeaux 35-29 in the second half to secure the victory.
The Lady Cats fell to 1-3 in their next game, an 84-64 loss to the Carencro High Lady Bears.
Eunice stayed with the Lady Bears in the early going as the first quarter ended with the score tied at 17-17.
The Lady Bears used a 17-12 second quarter advantage to lead 34-29 at the half and Carencro used a 30-18 fourth quarter to seal the win.
White led the Eunice scoring against the Bears with 20 points.
Vigers added 14, with Asia Ledet and Mia Lejeune scoring 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Lady Bobcats rebounded from the Carencro loss with a 67-22 victory over Hamilton Christian to move to 2-3 on the season.
The Lady Cats used a quick start to take early control in the game, outscoring Hamilton by a 15-5 margin. Balanced scoring was again the key for the Lady Cats.
White led the way with 19 points, followed closely by Vigers with 17. Ledet added 12 and Lejeune had seven as the Lady Cats built a 36-14 halftime lead and were never threatened.
