Campaign announcement: Marilyn Castle
After more than 17 years of serving her community as a district court judge, Marilyn Castle has announced her candidacy for Louisiana Supreme Court District 3 in South Louisiana.
After completing her undergraduate degree at LSU, Castle went on receive her juris doctorate from the LSU School of Law. She was an assistant district attorney and spent 20 years in private practice representing business men and women, individuals and families in business and commercial litigation. She has handled over 100 cases before the Louisiana Supreme Court. Castle became the first woman to serve as the president of the Lafayette Parish Bar Association. In her time as a district court judge, she has twice been selected to serve as the chief judge for the 15th Judicial District Court and was recently elected president of the statewide Louisiana District Judges Association for 2016.
In 2008, Castle was a recipient of the “Women Who Mean Business” award presented by The Independent Magazine, is a founding board member for the Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic and serves on the Lafayette Parish Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee.
Castle is a Republican candidate for the Louisiana State Supreme Court District 3, which includes the parishes of Acadia, Avoyelles, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jeff Davis, Lafayette, St. Landry and Vermilion.
