Pre-holiday party turns deadly in Turkey Creek
A pre-Fourth of July party in Turkey Creek turned deadly leaving one man dead, according to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office news release release.
Sheriff’s investigators said deputies were dispatched around 11:45 p.m. to 1023 Cemetery Road in Turkey Creek near Chapelle’s Corner Grocery.
Deputies and first-responders found “... an adult white male victim who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the side of his head, along with two white females.”
The victim was taken to Rapides Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Clifton Hallmark, 51.
An altercation occurred between the victim and another while male subject, the news release stated.
“At some point, the suspect walks up to the victim and fires a handgun at the victim prior to fleeing the scene.”
