Eunice was in the grip of a heat wave as August ended and September began. Royne Fontenot, a weather-watcher for the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office, said a record high of 109 was reached on Aug. 31. “We’ve had a bunch of 103s and 104s and that’s not including the heat index!”
Van Reed played Adam and Jerri O’Roke played Eve in the Eunice Players’ production of “Dairies of Adam and Eve.”
The Daiquiri Shack advertised $1 long necks from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday.
Another advertisement introduced Eunice Community Home Health to Eunice. The advertisement included a photo of the staff, which included Lisa Deshotel, R.N.; Pam Granger, branch director; Dawn Rider, HHA; Donna Fisher, L.P.N.; Helen Tatman, clerical; Shirley Jacobs, HHA; Pat DeRouen, regional director; and Michelle DeRouen, community educator.
Eunice running back Spencer Aucoin scored Eunice High School’s only two touchdowns in an 18-13 win over Bolton.
St. Edmund’s Jacob Langley racked up 142 yards in seven carries and scored all three Blue Jay touchdowns in a season-opening 21-6 win over the Sacred Heart Trojans.
