Racing Commission chairman
DUSON – Services are Monday for Racing Commission chairman Jerry Meaux. He died in accident near his Indian Ridge Farm on April 24 at age 74.
He was appointed chairman of the commission by Gov. Bobby Jindal in 2008 after serving an earlier term under Gov. Mike Foster.
He was a well-known horseman. He was president of SLEMO for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife Betty and five children.

Lande Office director
BATON ROUGE –Services for the former director of the State Land Office Ory Poret will be Tuesday. He died April 25 at age 95.
He worked for the state 40 years. He was former state commander of both the Disabled Veterans and American Veterans of World War II (AMVETS). He was a decorated veteran of World War II. He was also former board president of the La Capital Credit Union and the Old State Capitol Memorial Commission.
Survivors include a brother.

City Clerk clerk
CROWLEY – Services for long-time City Clerk clerk Robert Hanks John will be Wednesday. She died April 25 at age 77.
After working in the Pentagon, she was City Court clerk for 20 years, then was a clerk in the District Attorney’s Office.
Survivors include her husband Robert and two children.
Arrangements are by Geesey-Ferguson.
