Doctor, educator
METAIRIE – Services are Saturday for doctor and medical educator Dr. Daniel Scullin. He died March 28 at age 78.
He was a former member of the LSU School of Medicine faculty and practiced at Touro Infirmary.
Survivors include his wife Addie and two children.
Arrangements are by Lake Lawn.

Nutrition specialist
MARKSVILLE – Services for nutrition specialist Gertrude Laborde will be Friday. She died April 1 at age 89.
She worked in the Avoyelles Parish County Agent’s Office for about 40 years, then taught nutrition classes at the Alexandria Trade School. She had the distinction of being the first female juror and foreman on a 12-person criminal jury in Avoyelles Parish.
Survivors include four children.
Arrangements are by Hixson Bros.

Pioneer educator
LAFAYETTE – Services for pioneer educator Willie Martin will be Friday. He died March 29 at age 79.
He was the first African-American speech therapist hired in Lafayette and was director of pupil appraisal for the Lafayette Parish public school system for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Mathilda and three sons.
Arrangements are by Carney.

Planner
GONZALES – Services for utility office manager and community planner Charles Glover will be Thursday. He died April 1 at age 93.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and retired manager of Gulf States Utilities’ Gonzales branch. He was on the the city’s planning and zoning commission for almost 20 years.
Survivors include a son and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Ourso.

Podnuh's founder
MONROE – Services Podnuh’s Barbeque chain founder Jerry Keever were Wednesday. He died March 31 at age 78.
He was one of Podnuh’s founding members when it began on Louisville Avenue, eventually growing to 14 restaurants in several cities.
Survivors include two daughters.
