A disaster recovery center is opening Sunday, Sept. 4, in Acadia Parish to assist Louisiana flood survivors. The center is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week, until further notice.

Louisiana renters who experienced losses due to the severe storms and flooding beginning on Aug. 11 may be eligible for disaster recovery assistance from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
SBA offers low-interest disaster loans to businesses of all sizes, most private nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters.
Businesses may borrow up to $2 million for any combination of property damage or economic injury.

Word Ministries in Eunice is, perhaps, a church in the right place and at the right time.
On Monday, the former Walmart building that is home to Word Ministries, was selected as the site of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Disaster Recovery Center.
Louisiana Economic Development encouraged businesses impacted by this month’s severe flooding to take advantage of federal, state and charitable assistance being set up to help them.
