Jones 9, LSUE 7
CLINTON, Miss. – No. 1 seed LSUE split games on Friday including a 9-7 loss to No. 2 and Region 23 rival Jones County Community College in the winner’s bracket final.
Jones County took a lead in the top of the first inning off starter Raven Cole as C.C. Lawn walked, Tori Dew was hit by a pitch and Lauren Holifield singled to plate Lawn.
Dew and Holifield scored off a two-run single by Makenzie Hawkins off reliever Destin Vicknair.
LSU Eunice(61-3) tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the second frame to excite the Bengal faithful who made the trip to Traceway Park.
Emily Nolan and Vicknair both walked and Carey Alexis (2-4, three RBI) followed with a powerful home run over the right field fence.
Jones scored three runs in the top of the fourth to push ahead 6-3, aided by two Lady Bengal errors and a two-RBI hit by Dew to plate Savannah Lyons and Lawn who both reached on LSUE miscues.
LSUE closed the gap to 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth when Codi Covington (2-for-4) walked and scored on a hit by Taylor Boulet (1-for-4, RBI). Boulet then scored on a double down the third base line by Brooklyn Clark.
JCC added a run in the top of the fifth when Brittany Seale singled and scored on a sacrifice by Reagan Lavin.
Jones increased its margin to 9-5 with two runs in the top of the seventh as Seale singled and Bailey Stokes hit a home run off pitcher Kayla Davidson.
The Lady Bengals closed the gap to 9-7 when Clark (3-4, RBI) singled and Nolan blasted a round-tripper to left centerfield.
Vicknair (28-2) was saddled with the loss, allowing four runs (one earned run) on seven hits in her 4 2/3 innings of relief.

LSUE 4, Des Moines Area Community College 3
The Lady Bengals advanced to the winner’s bracket final with a 4-3 rally over Des Moines Area Community College earlier on Friday.
Des Moines stunned LSUE with three runs in the top of the first inning as Kaitlyn Briley singled and Jamie Reynolds and Hannah Swafford laid down back-to-back bunt to load the bases.
Marisa Graslewicz drove in a run and Jessica Bastain drove in the other two baserunners for the 3-0 advantage.
Covington(1-for-2, BB) singled to begin the Lady Bengal rally in the bottom of the fourth and Clark (1-for-3) followed with a double.
Nolan (1-for-3, 2 RBI) drove in the two Lady Bengals with a double to left field and Vicknair (1-for-3) helped her own cause with a drifting home run over the centerfield fence to give LSUE a 4-3 advantage.
Vicknair grabbed her 28th victory of the season in the circle, allowing three runs (two earned) and eight hits while striking out five Des Moines batters in her complete game win.
