PRAIRIE BASSE – The Eunice High Lady Bobcats (4-7) won one and lost one this past week in the St. Landry Parish Basketball Tournament held here at Beau Chene High School.
There were plenty of laughs, hugs and a few tears shed last Friday night as the LSU Eunice Lady Bengals celebrated their 2014 softball title all over again during the championship ring ceremony.
The Eunice High Bobcats staged two different comebacks during their 54-52 victory over the Port Barre High Red Devils in basketball action Monday night at the Bobcat gym.
The Bobcats, now 3-5 on the season, fell behind early as the Red Devils jumped ahead 7-0.
The Eunice Bobcats finished 4-6 overall and 2-4 in District 4-4A.
As the fifth place team, the Bobcats put 11 players on the All-District list, including two players on the defensive first team.
Lady Bengal head coach Andy Lee and assistant coach Haley McCall led LSU Eunice to back-to-back NJCAA Division II National Championships.
With that accomplishment, LSU Eunice has been selected as this year’s NFCA NJCAA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year.
