A plan to automate household garbage collection appears to be headed toward trouble in rural St. Landry Parish.

The new blue trash carts springing up between Eunice and Opelousas, and in Opelousas, are raising concerns about the future of the trash pickup service, said Timmy Lejeune, St. Landry Parish District 11 parish councilman.
