Opelousas woman ejected in collision, dies

A two-vehicle crash on La. 10 at La. 182 has claimed the life of an Opelousas woman.
State Police said that on Friday at 8:34 p.m. Brandi Chambers, 27, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala west on La. 10 and for reasons still under investigation, turned left in front of a 2012 Dodge truck driven by 28 -year-old Brandon Fisher of Morrow.
The front of Fisher’s vehicle struck the right side of Chambers’ vehicle, police said.
Chambers was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.
Fisher was restrained and sustained minor injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in this crash and routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
