Pedestrian struck, killed

On December 28, 2014, shortly after 7:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a crash on U.S. 90 near Petroleum Parkway that claimed the life of a Youngsville man.
The preliminary investigation revealed that 48-year-old Brian Bearden of Youngsville was attempting to walk across U.S. 90, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling east on U.S. 90. The vehicle, was a 2006 Honda CRV driven by 30-year-old Allen Milligan of Lafayette.
Bearden was transported to a local hospital and was pronounced dead. Milligan was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
Toxicology samples were taken from Bearden and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Milligan submitted to a chemical test and was not impaired.
This crash remains under investigation.
