A Marksville inmate is back in custody after jumping out of a second story window at the Avoyelles Parish Courthouse.
According to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office, Laura Martin, 26, in court on September 4, to be arraigned on Theft by Fraud charges.
Martin asked one of the deputies is she could be taken to the bathroom then crawled out the second story window and escaped. She was captured about 15 minutes later, two blocks from the courthouse near the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery and Avoyelles Glass.
Martin was still wearing leg shackles when she was found by police officers.
Martin has added simple escape in addition to the fraud charges.
