Tribe says Avoyelles casino checks to governments are in the pipeline

Avoyelles Parish governing entities should soon receive a check for their share of the Tunica-Biloxi gaming profits, a tribe spokesman said.
Several local governments had feared that the lack of a fourth quarter distribution was a harbinger of things to come -- a life without Paragon Casino checks. Those fears are unfounded, the tribe said.
The tribal spokesperson did not have a specific date or amount at this time. Quarterly payments usually are made four to six weeks after the close of the quarter. The amount to be distributed to local government and public service entities is sent to the state Office of Indian Affairs, which then divides the funds according to an adopted formula.
The last payment was received in November for the quarter ending Sept. 30, 2013.
