Unbelted driver dies when his car leaves road, hits tree

A unbelted driver died when his car ran off the highway and hit a tree Wednesday night.
State Police said Christopher Legros, 37, of Mementau in Acadia Parish was driving east on U.S. 90 at a high rate of speed.
For reasons still under investigation, Legros traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree.  He was not restrained and was killed.
A passenger in his vehicle, 19-year-old Mariah Davis of Jennings, was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.  She was was restrained when the crash occurred.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.
