Unbelted driver ejected, dies in Avoyelles crash

Late Sunday afternoon, a single-vehicle crash killed a man from Welsh, according to State Police. He was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected during the crash.
State troopers responded to the crash around 5:20 p.m., which occurred on La. Highway 114 near La. Highway 1. The crash involved a 1997 Cadillac Seville, driven by Timothy J. Vanness, age 24, of Welsh.
The Cadillac was eastbound on La. Highway 114 when Vanness lost control and ran off the right side of the roadway.
After exiting the right side of the roadway, the vehicle entered a ditch and collided with a concrete culvert before overturning several times.
Vanness was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology tests are pending. The accident remains under investigation.
