Washington teen, unbelted, dies when his truck leavers road, overturns

Colby Jeansonne

An unbelted Washington teenager died Monday night when his pickup truck left the road and overturned.
The accident happened about 10 p.m. on Eugene Soileau Road.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena said, “The initial investigation indicates that 19-year-old Colby Jeansonne of Washington was driving a Chevrolet pick-up truck west on Eugene Soileau Road at a high rate of speed.  For reasons still under investigation, Jeansonne traveled off the right side of the road and struck an embankment causing the truck to overturn.”
Vizena stated, “Jeansonne, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish Coroner. Passengers, Dillon Dupre and Tristen Dupre, both of Washington were treated and released with minor injuries.”
Alcohol use is unknown however, routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
