Woman's car leaves road, hits building, burns; she dies
Shortly after 7 a.m. Friday, state troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on LA Highway 342 near Brooklyn Street that claimed the life of 27-year-old Sarah Leblanc of Duson.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Leblanc was traveling east on LA 342 in a 2014 Toyota Camry.
As Leblanc traveled eastbound, she failed to maintain control of the vehicle causing it to run off of the left side of the highway. Leblanc’s vehicle traveled through a ditch and into a building. After the impact, the building caught fire and Leblanc was found inside of the vehicle by the fire department. Due to the fire damage, it is unknown if Leblanc was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash. Routine toxicology samples were taken from Leblanc and were submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
