Action on former Eunice Fire Chief Mike Arnold’s termination was deferred at the Eunice city council meeting Tuesday.

A 23-year-old Eunice woman was taken to Acadian Medical Center after her vehicle collided with a cement truck at about 12:30 p.m. Monday. Katherine Jacobs was driving a vehicle west on U.S. 190 when for an unknown reason it left the road and struck the truck, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said. No one was in the truck, which was unloading to cement for a swimming pool, he said. The truck is owned by Gunite Express L.P. of Pearl River. The truck leaked diesel fuel, oil and hydraulic fluid. Eunice firefighters blocked the fluid from reaching a drain and the spill was cleaned up by a crew contracted by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. (Photo by Harlan Kirgan)
