School budget issues: Enrollment down, health insurance costs rising

Perhaps finances will be a top issue on St. Landry Parish School Board members’ list of priorities for a new superintendent.

Rice industry donates for flood relief

The Louisiana rice industry donated 13 tons of rice to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to help the organization rebuild its inventory after last month’s devastating floods.
The gift will provide 324,000 half-cup servings.

Chamber schedules meet, greet for top school job finalists

The final three candidates for the St. Landry Parish school superintendent job are to be featured at a forum scheduled at 5 p.m. Monday at the Delta Grand Theatre, 120 S. Market St., Opelousas.
The forum is scheduled by the St. Landry Chamber of Commerce and Vision St. Landry.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
