Family loses home, belongings in early Easter fire

This house and car were destroyed by fire Sunday. The fire apparently started in the carport on South 4th Street.

A family that had lived in their South 4th Street home a week lost it and most of their belongings in an early Easter morning fire.
Eunice Fire Department officials said that at 1:21 a.m. on Easter Sunday, trucks were dispatched to a house fire at 531 S. 4th.

Gardner: Rotary's Administrative Professional of the year

Connie Gardner is honored and recognized as the Rotary Club’s Administrative Professional of the Year. The event was held at St. Thomas More on Wednesday as more than $3,000 worth of door prizes were given out to local administrative assistants.

The Rotary Club of Eunice’s Wednesday luncheon at St. Thomas More resembled a Thanksgiving dinner as local businesses gave thanks to area administrative professionals and honored the administrative professional of the year, Connie Gardner.

Mamou arrests

The Mamou Police Department reported seven recent bookings into the town jail.
Arrested were the following persons:
•Zackery Ellison, 30, 309 Elm St., Mamou, was charged April 15, with theft of utilities. Ellison bonded out of jail the same day.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
