Kids all over America graduated last week from kindergarten, grade school, high school, college and graduate schools. And there was always a commencement speaker. Most of you will never give a commencement address. But as a public official, I was called on to give a number of them.

Louisiana’s public high school graduation rate reached 77.5 percent in 2015, an all-time high, according to the state Department of Education.
The four-year high school gradation rate increased for the fifth consecutive year in 2015.
The names of LSU graduates for May 2015 were released Friday.

Carrington La Shayne Simpson received a doctor of chiropractic and bachelor of science degrees in anatomy and health and wellness during the 89th commencement on April 18 at Parker University in Dallas , Texas.
High school graduation rates for St. Landry Parish matched the state rate for the 2013-14 school year, according to information released by the Louisiana Department of Education.
