Lady Jays shut out FRA, 5-0

FALSE RIVER – The St. Edmund Lady Jays opened District 5-1A action with a 5-0 win over False River Academy.
The No. 9 Lady Jays (9-10, 1-0) exploded for four runs in the top of the first and never gave up their lead.
Heidi Bieber and Sydney Thibodeaux singled and both Beiber and courtesy runner Katherine Leger scored, while Kasey LaFleur reached on a RBI fielder’s choice.
Gabby Fontenot also reached on a fielder’s choice, while courtesy runner Kylie Hebert and Fontenot scored on hits by Maggie Larriverre and Victoria McGee.
The Lady Jays added another run in the top of the seventh as Fontenot singled and scored when Preslie Vidrine reached on a fielder’s choice.
LaFleur earned the complete game, shut-out win as she struck out four and allowed just three hits.
Thibodeaux went 3-for-4 to lead the Lady Jays, while Fontenot went 2-for-4.
The Lady Jays travel to Westminster Christian Acadmey next Tuesday.
