Lake Arthur cruises past St. Edmund

LAKE ARTHUR – The road trip to Lake Arthur proved to be a tough task for St. Edmund as the home team outscored the visitors 122-49 in the two games.
The Lady Jays struggled, scoring only three points in the first half and fell 61-13.
Kelli Richard scored a free throw in the first quarter and Sydney Thibodeaux hit a bucket in the second period as the Lady Jays trailed 29-3 at the break.
Margaret Vidrine and Maddie Andrus each scored two points in the third period as the Lady Jays trailed 49-7 as the game moved to the final quarter.
Vidrine added four more points in the fourth period to lead the Lady Jays with six points on the night.
Constance Fontenot scored the other Lady Jay points in the period.
Elizabeth Guidry led Lake Arthur with 20 points, including four treys.
Kaitlyn Trahan scored 19 points for the Lady Tigers, 11 points in the first half.
St. Edmund will entertain Iota on Friday.

LA boys 61, SEH 36
The one-sided games continued as the Tigers cruised to a 61-36 win over the Blue Jays.
Christian McFarlain hit a three-pointer and Stone LeJeune added bucket as St. Edmund trailed 17-5 after the first quarter.
The Blue Jays battled Lake Arthur in the second period as the Tigers outscored St. Edmund, 13-10.
McFarlain and LeJeune each drilled treys in the period and Cullen Brown added a bucket to help close the gap to 31-15 at intermission.
Their offensive struggles continued in the third period as the Blue Jays only pushed in eight points.
McFarlain hit another trey and two free throws to finish with 11 points on the night.
Brown hit a bucket and a free throw for the Jays in the quarter.
St. Edmund closed the game with 13 points in final period, sparked by buckets from William Chachere, Dylan Bieber, Zach LaFleur and Alex Hunt.
LeJeune and Brown each finished with seven points for the Jays, while Chachere and Hunt each chipped in three points.
The Blue Jays play their final game before the break with a road game to Ascension Episcopal on Friday.
