31st etouffee contest announced
The 31st Annual World Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-off is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 20 at the Northwest Pavilion, 651 Samuel Drive, Eunice.
There is free admission, free parking and music at the festival.
Festivities actually begin with a Pre-Cook-off Kick-Off Dance at 8 p.m. Saturday at Ruby’s Restaurant and Courtyard. The scheduled band is One Trick Pony.
On Sunday morning dozens of chefs will vie to win the title of World Champion Crawfish Etouffee Chef.
“This year we celebrate 31 years of promoting Eunice and our unique Cajun Culture,” a Eunice Chamber of Commerce news release stated.
The Cook-off includes many events for children including face-painting, fund jumps and a petting zoo.
Bands scheduled Sunday include Geno Delafose & French Rockin Boogie, Pine Leaf Boys and Josh Johnson & the Beagle Ranch Ramblers.
The crawfish etouffee cooked by teams will be judged by celebrity and professional judges in amateur, professional and club/organization categories.
Booths will also be judged.
The winners of the judging will be announced at 3:30 p.m. from the music stage in the pavilion.
