Early signup for Mardi Gras runs set
Registration dates and rules for the Le Vieux Mardi Gras De Cajuns and the Lil’ Mardi Gras have been announced.
The adult run will be held March 4 with registration to take place at the Northwest Community Center from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m.
The children’s event will be on March 2.
The Lil’ Mardi Gras has been expanded to include children up to 14 years old. Any child 0-14 can register and participate.
Pre-registration will start at Eunice City Hall on Monday, Feb. 3.
The fee includes chicken chases and a bag lunch. Registration is limited to 70 vehicles, with or without trailer.
For the adult event, a registration fee of $30 with a valid Driver’s License is required. Person must register in person, and be at least 18 years of age.
Traditional Costumes are required. No horse-drawn vehicles, four wheelers or bicycles allowed on the run.
Trailers will be limited to 40. Sixteen Association trailers will be on the route. Registration is a first come-first-serve basis with a $30 fee per trailer charge. Tags will be issued. All riders on trailers or truck bed must register and pay $30 fee.
All riders on trailers or truck bed must be dressed in traditional Mardi Gras costumes.
Drivers cannot consume any alcoholic beverages before or during the run, and must be 18 years of age. A registration tag must be displayed on vehicle.
Pre-registration for trailers will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the city hall. Runners will register the morning of the run at the Northwest Center. Current proof of insurance will be required on tow vehicles. Trailers must not exceed 20 feet, no doubles will be allowed.
No portalets or runners allowed behind truck. Must have a 3 foot wall around the front and sides of trailers.
Gumbo will be served from 4-6 p.m. at the Northwest Community Center.
