The Prairie Cajun Folklife Festival was scheduled for Oct. 21. Main stage bands included Kenneth Thibodeaux & Cajun Dance, Jo Jo Reed & the Happy Hill Playboys, Kim Brasso & LA Boogie, Jambalaya Cajun Band and Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys.
The Dewey Balfa Cajun & Creole Heritage Week workshop was scheduled at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park in April 2001.
State Sen. Don Hines, of Bunkie, was opposing a plan to close 25 health units. Hines wanted the Foster Administration to keep the units open until an alternate plan was developed.
The Blue Jays defeated the Montgomery Tigers 27-26. Leading rusher for St. Edmund was Stephen Guillory and leading scorer was Drew Bruchhaus with two touchdowns.
Coach Paul Trosclair’s Eunice High Bobcats took a commanding 28-0 win over Jennings. Spencer Aucoin ran four touchdowns.
