Karen expected in southeast Louisiana late Saturday

Tropical Storm Karen continued Friday morning on a course toward the southeast Louisiana course.

Forecasters expect the storm, which could reach minimal hurricane strength before losing wind speed as it crosses the coast, to veer sharply to the right (east) as it crosses the coast and is pushed away by a cold front settling into Louisiana from the northwest.

Coastal flooding and periodic heavy rainfall is expected late Saturday as the system slogs in from the Gulf of Mexico.
