A bus driver who allegedly made pit stops at a truck stop casino at least twice before taking his last student passenger home has been fired.

St. Landry Parish School Supt. Edward Brown said the substitute driver stopped to allegedly use the bathroom, leaving a Eunice Elementary student on the bus alone for 10 or 15 minutes before returning and completing the route.

Brown said investigation indicated that the driver made several so-called potty stops in the course of a two-week period.

The driver’s name was not released.
