Prosecutor says not enough evidence, Tharold Simon case closed
Felony and misdemeanor charges against Eunice native and NFL rookie Tharold Simon have been dropped.
The prosecution advised district court that the matter was being nolle prossed due to insufficient evidence.
Simon was charged in April with obstruction of a public passage, public intimidation, resisting an officer and unnecessary noise after a run-in with a Eunice officer the night before the NFL draft.
His agent immediately labeled the case harassment and said his client would sue. No record of that has surfaced.
Simon, classified as indigent and assigned a public defender at his lineup hearing, was subsequently drafted by the Seattle Seahawks, and has been on the injured unable to perform list the entire season because of a foot injury.
At the time of his arrest, he allegedly told the officer he would in essencehave his job.
The officer is still on the force.
