SLEMCO members can win prizes at annual meeting in Lafayette

Because SLEMCO is an electric cooperative, members are an integral part of the organization. At the annual meeting on June 6 at the Lafayette Cajundome, members will be asked to elect board members and to conduct official company business.
The prizes have been changed this year, according to a news release.
The first Grand Prize will be a choice of $20,000 cash, a 2015 car or truck from Courtesy Automotive, a 32-ft. Rockford Ultralight Camper from Primeaux RV, a 2015 Tracker Proteam 190TX Bass Boat with 115 HP Mercury outboard and trailer from Henderson Implement & Marine or a Kubota L3901 39 HP Tractor with front-end loader and choice of rear implement from Henderson Implement & Marine.
The second Grand Prize will be $10,000 cash and third Grand Prize will be $5,000 cash.
The first prize awarded at 8 a.m. will be for a choice of either a 2015 Honda FourTrax Rancher 4Wheeler from Honda of Lafayette or $5,000 cash.
Other prizes will include $1,000 cash (five winners), home theater sound systems (two winners), iPads (two winners), laptop computers (two winners) and cordless power tool sets (two winners).
Twenty college students will win $2,000 each to attend school next fall.
If SLEMCO provides electricity to your home, you will receive a card in the mail during the week of May 25 that will be your chance to enter the prize drawings. You must be present to win and you must have a pictured I.D. to claim your prize. You or your spouse may attend and participate in the meeting and prize drawings. Powers of attorney are not eligible to claim prizes for members unable to attend the meeting.
Commercial members must contact Gayle Babin at SLEMCO, in writing, at least 24 hours prior to the meeting on June 6th, notifying us who their registered agent will be at the meeting.
SLEMCO provides electric power to more than 100,000 members throughout the parishes of Acadia, Avoyelles, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion.
