Although Storm 99L is currently predicted to strengthen and make landfall well to the east of Louisiana, SLEMCO has made preparations should the forecasted path change and project a landfall further toward the Louisiana coastline.
SLEMCO is warning members not to pay money to fake company officials.
Some SLEMCO members have received calls demanding a $500 deposit for the installation of a new “Smart” meter or they will be disconnected, a news release from SLEMCO stated.

Zachary Stagg of Eunice was one of 20 students winning a $2,000 college scholarship during the 78th SLEMCO Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 6, at the Cajundome in Lafayette.
The electric cooperative’s annual meeting include a grand prizes.
Because SLEMCO is an electric cooperative, members are an integral part of the organization. At the annual meeting on June 6 at the Lafayette Cajundome, members will be asked to elect board members and to conduct official company business.
