Two charged in Acadia Parish thefts

Following an investigation by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, two men have been arrested charged with four counts of simple burglary.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon deputies in the patrol division stopped two male subjects riding 4 wheelers. Following a brief investigation it was learned that the 4 wheelers had been reported stolen earlier in the day from residents in the Evangeline area. Warrants were issued for the arrest of Tyler Louviere, age 19, of the Evangeline Hwy, Basile and Austin Thomas, age 18, of St. Jules Road, Iota.

Melancon stated that his office was in the process of investigating four burglaries that occurred in the Evangeline area and had been reported to his office between the dates of October 16 AND OCT. 29. Items taken in those burglaries were three 4 wheelers, hunting equipment & power tools. Two of the 4 wheelers have been recovered and as the investigation continues Detectives are hoping to recover additional items for the victims.

Both Louviere and Thomas remain in the Acadia Parish Jail with bond set at $50,000 each.
