Ville Platte juveniles charged in Eunice Home invasion

Three Ville Platte juveniles– who range in ages 14 to 16 – were arrested and charged in a Eunice home invasion. The 14 year-old was charged with home invasion, armed robbery, two counts of aggravated second degree battery, unauthorized use of a moveable, aggravated battery and the illegal carrying of a weapon, according to the Eunice Police Department arrest reports.
Police said that officers responded to the intersection of Benoit and Cotton Street after receiving a complaint of a possible robbery. Officers arrived and discovered three victims, a couple in their 40’s and their 24 year old daughter. The victims suffered lacerations and other injuries and an ambulance was called to the scene by officers. The victims stated that they were asleep when they noticed five individuals inside the home with one of the suspects armed with a handgun. The victims stated that the suspects then started beating them up while asking for the keys to the car. When the suspects obtained the keys they exited the house and stole the victims car– which was identified as a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria. The victims then pointed out a metal pole and a wooden stick on the premises that was used to beat them and then apparently left behind by the assailants. The victims advised officers that the car was equipped with a GPS device. Officers made contact with the individual that sold the car to the victims. He then signed into a computer and tracked the location of the vehicle as they drove away from the Eunice area. Eunice police then made contact with Lafayette Police Department– who then located the stolen car which was occupied by the 5 alleged suspects. Two were taken into custody and three ran but were apprehended by Lafayette officers. The 2 adults were booked at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for unauthorized use of a movable. The three other suspects were juveniles from Ville Platte that left home without the knowledge of their parents. The three juveniles were transported back to Eunice by detectives then released into the custody of their parents. The matter is still under investigation with charges pending in this case.
