Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees will be conferred during the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Fall 2015 Commencement ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 18, at the Cajundome and Convention Center.
A house next to Ball Marketing on La. 370 (Attebury Road) was a total loss after catching fire at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Richard Fire Chief Dusty Edwards said. The house, owned by Susan Goss, was undergoing renovations when a fire that started in a dump truck behind the house caught fire, he said. There were no injuries, he said. Firefighters from Acadia Fire District 4, Richard, Branch, Mire, Eunice, St. Landry Parish Fire District 6 and Church Point responded to the fire. Edwards said the house is about 100 years old and the fire spread quickly through the old, dry wood. The location is about halfway between Eunice and Church Point. The 29th annual Eunice Food Bank Food Drive is underway and will end at 8 p.m. today. It's not too late to give non-perishable food items, tolietries, as well as monetary donations. The Eunice Food Bank is located at 251 W. Park Ave. (the old DMV building).
Unemployment rates dropped from October 2014 to October 2015 in Louisiana and seven out of the state’s nine metropolitan statistical areas, according to not-seasonally-adjusted data released Monday by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
