The town of Eunice has long been synonymous with The Purple Peacock, with generations of dancers hitting the night spot from the late 1960s until as recently as last Christmas.
Rural first responders attend media seminar

About 20 people from around the region attended a media seminar for first responders Thursday at LSU Eunice.

Ten years ago today Hurricane Katrina formed over the Bahamas a matter of days strengthened to a Category 5 storm in the Gulf of Mexico.
The huge storm made landfall on Aug. 29 as Category 3.

Former Eunice Mayor Curtis Joubert, who established tourism in Eunice, was honored Friday by the Cajun French Music Association with its Pioneer Award during ceremony Friday at the Rayne Civic Center.
It’s not unheard of to have a self-financed candidate in a major Louisiana campaign. But to see seven statewide candidates, including one incumbent and a regional officeholder, dipping into their own pockets during the same reporting period is somewhat unusual.
