The town of Eunice has long been synonymous with The Purple Peacock, with generations of dancers hitting the night spot from the late 1960s until as recently as last Christmas.

Ten years ago today Hurricane Katrina formed over the Bahamas a matter of days strengthened to a Category 5 storm in the Gulf of Mexico.
The huge storm made landfall on Aug. 29 as Category 3.

Cajun French Music Association honors former Eunice mayor Curtis Joubert

Former Eunice Mayor Curtis Joubert, who established tourism in Eunice, was honored Friday by the Cajun French Music Association with its Pioneer Award during ceremony Friday at the Rayne Civic Center.
