Bicyclist struck on Fournerat Road, airlifted to hospital

A bicycle struck by a pickup truck is seen through the door window on Fournerat Road on Tuesday morning. The bicyclist, who was on the way to classes at LSU Eunice, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a Lafayette hospital.

The Fire & Police Civil Service Board restored Deputy Chief Varden Guillory’s duties and pay levels after a lengthy hearing Wednesday night, but told him Chief Ronald Dies could assign Guillory any vehicle he chooses, as long as it is road-worthy.
