Children's librarian
MONROE – Services for long-time children’s librarian Martha Tatum Jordan will be Wednesday. She died at age 69.
She was Ouachita children’s librarian for more than 20 years. Prior to that she was on the staff of the University of Oklahoma Library. She was a recognized authority of all aspects of literature as it involved children.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. H. Gleen Jordan, two children and her mother.
Arrangements are by Mulhearn.
Highway horticulturist
BATON ROUGE – Thousands of people have seen the work of O.M. “Buddy” Pourciau, Jr., a retired DOTD horticulturist who died Nov. 3. Services are Tuesday.
He was a a pioneer in DOTD, where he was in charge of roadside development along with erosion control. He designed and built Toledo Bend Park, landscaped the interstate system and applied vegetation using the newly designed hydro mulch system.
Survivors include his wife Shirley and two children.
Arrangements are by Resthaven.
Golf coach, educator
St. FRANCISVILLE – Services will be Wednesday for long-time golf coach and educator Robert Leslie. He died Nov. 1 at age 69.
He taught school and coached in Jackson, La. for more than 30 years and was a former East Feliciana Teacher of the Year. Prior to going to Jackson he taught in Missouri, where he established the state’s junior golf program.
Arrangements are by Charlet.
Educator, guidance counselor
MOREAUVILLE – Services for former state Department of Education director of guidance and counseling Philip Coco were Sunday. He died Oct. 31 at age 80.
After leaving state employment he was principal at Simmesport High for 10 years and then became Avoyelles supervisor of child welfare and attendance.
Survivors include his wife Lucy and a son.
Arrangements were by Escude.
Hospital official
ALEXANDRIA – Services for retired Huey P. Long Memorial Hospital official Nettie Uhrich will be Wednesday. She died Nov. 3 at age 85.
She was assistant administrative director at the hospital in Pineville for 35 years.
Survivors include her husband Edward, two sons and two step-daughters.
Arrangements are by John Kramer & Son.
