Rice specialist
BATON ROUGE – Services for rice specialist Lewis Hill will be Friday. He died Nov. 4 at age 93.
He worked 38 years with Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, as an assistant county agent and later as associate county agent in Acadia Parish. For almost 30 years he was a rice specialist serving the rice-producing parishes from the Baton Rouge office.
Survivors include his wife Ida and two sons.
Arrangements are by Seale.
Noted former LSU professor
BATON ROUGE – Services for LSU Alumni Professor emerita Mary Frances McKoy HopKins will be Nov. 13.
She received her doctorate from LSU in 1968 and joined the faculty as an assistant professor in oral interpretation and performance studies. She gained a national reputation as a pioneering scholar in narrative theory, Southern fiction and the place of literature in performance studies.
Survivors include a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.
Former Southern dean
BATON ROUGE – Services for retired Southern University Math Department chairman Dr. Joseph Meyinsee will be Saturday. He died Nov. 3 at age 60.
He also had served as dean of the Southern Graduate School and chair of the Department of Science/Mathematics Education.
Survivors include his wife Patricia and a son.
Arrangements are by Hall, Davis & Sons.
40-year educator
PLAINVIEW – Services for long-time educator J.B. Johnson will be Friday. He died Nov. 5 at age 89.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a cattleman. He was a teacher, assistant principal and principal at Plainview High for 40 years.
Arrangements are by Rush, Oakdale.
Gas exec
ST. AMANT – Services for natural gas executive Gregory “Bubba” Morgan will be Saturday. He died Nov. 3 at age 78.
He was president of St. Amant Gas Co. and retired after 31 years with Allied Chemical.
Survivors include three children.
Arrangements are by Church.
Methodist minister
PRAIRIEVILLE – Services for the Rev. Owen Peyton, Sr. will be Saturday in Shreveport. He died Nov. 1 at age 68.
He was a United Methodist minister for more than 20 years at churches throughout Louisiana. He was also a former commercial pressman.
Survivors include his wife Belinda and two children.
Arrangements are by Church.
