Pickup leaves road, hits several trees, unbelted driver dies

A 39-year-old Evans man died Christmas morning as the result of a Tuesday night traffic accident in Vernon Parish.
State Police Troop E said Sampson Haus was driving a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck east on Fal Road near La. Highway 464 in Vernon Parish when he lost control of the vehicle.
The pickup left the left side of the road and hit several small trees before running into a large tree on the driver’s side, police said.
Haus, who was not wearing a seat belt, died early Wednesday morning.
