Church Point woman killed when allegedly drunk driver's truck slams into her car

An allegedly drunk driver who, police said, disabled an ignition device ordered put on his truck after his third DWI offense killed a Church Point woman when his pickup crashed head-on into her car Christmas night.
State Police said Germaine Garrick, age not available, died when Jody Bourque’s truck hit her Oldsmobile on La. 35 about 10 p.m.
A unrestrained passenger in the car, Mary Ann Garrick, 53, was severely injured and another passenger, Rita Garrick, 39, also of Church Point, received minor injuries. She was belted.
Bourque, 48, of Branch, police said, was treated for minor injuries.
He was charged with DWI 4th, vehicular homicide, two counts negligent injuring, disabling ignition interlock, driving left of center and reckless operation.
