BRRRRRRRRR...Record cold continues

Monday's 23 degrees set a new record low for Jan. 6 in Eunice and all indications are a new standard would be reached for today and possibly Wednesday.
The previous record for Jan. 6 here was 26, reached in 1999.
The mercury dipped into the low 20's again on Tuesday morning and forecasters expect it to be somewhere in the mid to low 20s again on Wednesday as the remainder of a polar vortex pushes into the area.
A saving grace today was the absence of the biting wind of Monday, a northwesterly blow that made the temperatures feel like single-digit chill.
A warming trend is expected to begin Thursday.
