School Board elects Josie Frank president

Eunice attorney Josie Frank was unanimously elected president of the St. Landry Parish School Board at its Thursday meeting.
She was immediate past vice president and succeeds Harry Fruge, also of Eunice.
Frank encouraged board members to spend time monthly volunteering in parish schools, saying she plans to spend at least five hours a month doing so.
Fruge reviewed goals he had set on taking the gavel last January.
They included selecting a superintendent, creating more communication and cooperation among the 13 board members, maintaining an improving fiscal status and building bridges to area legislators.
He noted satisfaction in seeing all attained over the 12-months term.
Anthony Standberry of Opelousas was elected vice president, getting Fruge’s vote even though Fruge had been nominated for the post.
