Ward was a beloved church member killed in an automobile accident while delivering food for a funeral meal in June 2013 June.
She enrolled at Louisiana College in 1953. On the day she moved in, she met an LC football player named Jerry Ward. About a year later they married. As a newlywed, Carolyn was no longer able to continue her schooling.
Years later when Carolyn decided to obtain her teaching degree she returned to LC, commuting daily to Pineville.
