Man held in alleged rape of teen

A Eunice man is charged with the forcible rape of a 14-year-old.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s detectives have arrested Jeramie Brown, 35, of 1153 Hwy. 758 on two bench warrants.
According to the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena, the alleged incident occurred while the juvenile was at Brown’s residence in December.
Vizena’s press release did not reveal whether the victim was female or male.
Captain Vizena said, “Investigators were able to obtain statements from other witnesses that were present at the time of the incident. Brown is being held at the St. Landry Parish Jail with no bond at this time.”
The case, based on the 27th District Court’s closed access to court records in cases of alleged sex crimes, will now go behind a door of privacy, opened only for court minute record entry, a door double-secured because the victim is a juvenile.
