Bobcats fall to LaGrange Gators

LAKE CHARLES – A low scoring third quarter proved decisive as the Eunice High Lady Bobcats dropped a 38-34 decision to the Lady Gators of LaGrange High in District 4-4A action here Friday night at the Gator gym.
Coach Durell Peloquin’s Lady Cats fell to 14-8 overall and to 5-5 in district play as a result of the loss.
The Lady Bobcats return home to face the district-leading Lady Wolves of Rayne High on Tuesday before wrapping up season play by hosting a makeup game on Thursday against Crowley High.
The Lady Bobcats struggled in the early going, a pattern that has plagued the Eunice girls in district road games this season. The Lady Gators enjoyed a 14-8 advantage after one quarter. Davia Landry led the Lady Gators with five points in the quarter.
The Lady Bobcats recovered in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Gators by an 11-6 margin to pull within 20-19 by the half. Dashaya Vigers led the Lady Cats with six points in the second quarter.
The Lady Cats couldn’t sustain the late first-half momentum in the third quarter, however, getting outscored by a 7-4 margin to trail by four heading into the final eight minutes of action.
The Lady Cats could only match the Lady Gators in points with 11 in the fourth quarter, resulting in the four-point loss.
Vigers led the Lady Bobcats in scoring with a game total of 17 points, with seven of those coming in the final quarter. The only other scorers for the Lady Cats were Hali Jack, with nine, and Ashley Washington, with eight.
Top scorer for the Lady Gators was Brije Williams with 16 points.

LHS 67, EHS 46
LAKE CHARLES – The LaGrange High Gators jumped to an early lead and never looked back on their way to a 67-46 victory over the Eunice High Bobcats in 4-4A action here Friday night.
Coach Chad Andrepont’s Bobcats, now 7-18 overall and 1-6 in district play, opened the game by scoring just four points in the first quarter. The Gators, meanwhile, hit four 3-point field goals on their way to a 16-point quarter.
The Gators continued their hot shooting in the second quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 19-10 for a halftime lead of 35-14. The Gators sealed the win with a 21-10 advantage in the third quarter.
Leading the scoring for the Gators was Elahram Price with 14 points. Brendon Fountain also hit double figures in scoring with 12. Marlon Delafosse and Markdel Simien added nine points apiece for LaGrange.
Leading the Bobcats in scoring were Kevin Williams with 12 points. Travis Godfrey and Jerwaski Thomas added 11 points apiece for the Bobcats. Paul Hebert had eight points.
The Bobcats will entertain the Rayne Wolves on Tuesday.
